I want to thank all who participated in our internet correspondence this past weekend. The scouts enjoyed it immensely!! They had so many questions and comments, I could not type fast enough. We only had the one computer and phone line, which made it difficult. That phone line went out completely, which is why all replies ended. I will be sending pictures shortly. The weekend was wonderful and all the scouts had a great time. Don't be surprised to see some more comments in your Guestbook from other troops in Mississippi!! They all wanted your website address. See ya'll in November!!!!

The Dragons are coming?!
Some say they can reduce burley grown men to tears,
others say they prefer to shave using a blunt machete!
All I can tell you is that they will be at the hut on Friday 2nd November.
So ?be prepared? as a wise man once said?!!!

Tis fairly entertaining if you translate it back into English again...'Dear George (the original) and daN (the great man of boat) it came to my attention which two people assigned themselves like authority on the French speaking in Jersey. Can I specify that not each one is as bad as you make outside and than the others are enough at ease even if all that they claim to say are ' me am twelve years old ' and agitates with the sight of a French injury of crescent requiring the money... Do not forget: The morning I make waffles! !'

(what it should have been)
(what it was) (clive) 'can i have 15 chocolate crossants please. (waiter) 'c'est quinze Euro s'il vous plait' (clive) urm... eh??... what? how much?!

Having just read the report on Malvern, I think my children must have been somewhere different from you - 'only a SMALL amount of mud to show for it'!!?!!?
If that's the case then Kathryn and Lizzie must have brought it ALL back with them! I'm still (3 days later) working my way through washing mud off and out of sleeping bags, roll mats, trousers, walking boots, rucksacks, trainers etc etc etc.
At least they had a brilliant time, but it's now left to us long-suffering mothers to 'clear-up' after them!
Seriously, though, and as always, a great big thanks to the leaders who give up their time to take the scouts on all these fantastic camps and activities.

Hi everyone!! Great to hear your surfing went well. Troop 20 has been very busy also. We attended Fall Camporee and Scout Retreat. I will be sending over some more pictures. We are getting ready to go to Pensacola, Florida for the Blue Angels Welcome Home Air Show on Nov 10-12. I will be sending over a box of goodies to share among you. Our scouts have been putting bits and pieces of stuff together to send. Have to go now, work beckons. YIS, Karen

Hi Karen!
Great to hear from you again, glad to hear you are all doing great! Hope you enjoyed your camps, may I ask what you got upto? Looking forward to your photos. It's rather quiet for us now on the camp front, our next camp being in Feb next year... Here's to a peaceful winter & Christmas!
Clive
Karen, USA
30 October 2006 00:00:00
Hi Clive! No camping until Feb?? We will be camping every month. We have two Winter Camps scheduled, one in Nov and one in Dec, and a 20 mile hike and overnighter in Jan. Our Fall Camporee was called the Great Scout Race. It was designed as a race with scout skills. It was loads of fun for the scouts. Even our 7 new scouts had a blast even though it was their first campout and had not even learned most of the skills in the race. Our Annual Catholic Scout Retreat mixes religious instruction with scout skills. I have been ill for the past two weeks and am finally feeling somewhat normal again and am looking forward to more scouting adventures. YIS, Karen
Clive
30 October 2006 00:00:00
I'm so impressed with this internet business - how else can you chat so quick with people across the pond!
Your Camporee sounds like excellent fun, I wish there was more opportunity for us over here!! Good to hear you are on the mend, I have a habit of being ill on Scout camps...
Anyway, Scout camp in Nov, Dec, Jan 62nd Leaders?? - I'm feeling up for it!!
Great to hear from you!

30 October 2006 00:00:00
Excellent idea! There's a night for our spring term... I'll get our Scouts into selecting our best local recipes. (Although according to official figures curries are indeed our most popular dish!) My mouth is watering already!
We should both try for a close a time as possible, Shall we say around early Feb 2007?
Getting hungry now... Clive!
Karen , USA
30 October 2006 00:00:00
Feb sounds great!! I will bring it up at our Patrol Leaders Council meeting tonight as we will be doing our planning for the next 6 months. I am getting hungry just thinking about it. Too early for lunch yet, we are six hours behind you. If you have any other ideas, let me know.

Hello from across the Atlantic!! It has been a while since I had a chance to browse your website. Congratulations on your International Cooking win! Looks like you have been very busy. Troop 20 has been very busy also. We recently had our Council Scout Show where the troop did some demos on Wilderness Survival. Lots of fun!! I will send some pictures soon. I will be giving out the letters I have received at our next Troop meeting on Monday. More letters would be greatly appreciated, as I would not want to exclude any of our scouts. We are reviewing our Emergency Prep procedures because of the upcoming Hurricane season which is predicted to be a very active one. I ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers during this time. If you have any questions for me, I would be happy to answer them to the best of my ability. So long for now, Karen

Hello scouts it is no good asking about the US scouts as they have not had enough letters to inable them to write back, we need more then the half a dozen that have been sent, considering there were 30 hands in the air the night I asked about these letters, this is a poor turnout and three of the six I have sent all came from one family ! so come on guys and girls lets be having those letters asap the sooner we get more the sooner the US scouts can write back. Another six letters could make all the difference in the world.

R.E: "At 08:00 local time in every country, Scouts and former Scouts should gather together to renew their Promise in the second century of Scouting. This is a time to blow the kudu horn and to remember how Scouting was founded, what it has become and what it has accomplished.
At the time which corresponds to 08:00 on Brownsea Island, Scouts will be able to link up to the celebrations there via the internet or television and celebrate with Scouts worldwide. At this unique event there will be at least one Scout from every Scouting country in the world. With modern technology Scouts will be able to join in the Brownsea celebrations and those of the 40,000 Scouts at the nearby World Scout Jamboree for a moment to remember in Scouting history. Never before, we predict, will so many Scouts be 'together' at the same moment."

i hope we all are going to do this as we are all scouts and 2007 marks 100 years of scouting so show some pride and respect and do i please

Karen, Thanks for the reply about what you do...which seems to be a lot! We have jokes over here about "if only I just had one job in Scouting", because so few people do! One of the other things I am involved in is GAPP (www.gapp.me.uk), which is good fun, and I've got good friends there, who I've also been on international camps with. I was actually with a Venturer girl helping on the assault course in Thailand at the World Jamboree in 2003 (we were both International Service Team, IST). Our Scout Group is linked to the local Methodist Church...they actually helped set up the group way back when...so we obviously have some other things in common! Camp was fairly cold (well, it was Wales!) but we have big, warm, real log fires :o) YIS Dan

Hi Dan,
Great hearing from you. COR is just one of my posiitions. A COR represents our sponsor and is the liason between the units and the sponsor. So I meet with and report to the head of our sponsoring organization which happens to be my church pastor. I am also an Assistant Scoutmaster, Troop and Pack Committee Member, Religious Emblems Coordinator for the Troop and Cub Pack, member of the Catholic Committee on Scouting for the Diocese of Biloxi, and just recently became Associate Advisor for a Venturing Crew. I have my hands full, but I love it. We are having a bit of cold spell this week. They are predicting three nights of below freezing weather this weekend. That's a lot for us. Hope you have good weather for winter camp. Bye for now.

A neighbour to the scout hut said she sat at her window listening to the band and thoroughly enjoyed it all. Perhaps we should leaflet the neighbours next time and get them to come! Is it just me that leaves messages bescause its allways me whos left the last message!
Anyway Blaise Castle was quite cool exept from the fact i fell over(in mud), put my hand in a bunch of stinging nettles and i was moaning because i had no drink!!!
The swimming gala was great! I came first in the last race out of every one there!!! (!Boasting!) The other races where fun aswell!
