1 Aug 2007 - Scouting Sunrise
Wednesday 1st August 2007

To celebrate Scouting's 100 birthday we joined a reported 128 million Scouts worldwide to renew our promises (and have a day on the beach in the process...) An early start, being in Weston Super Mare for 8am was, well, early... Still we found a very pleasant cafe for breakfast, in the sunshine (did I mention it was gorgeously warm?)
Happy birthday Scouts...
We arrived in Weston earlier than planned and dropped off our stuff at our base for the night, 1st Milton Scout HQ, we found the road easily, the Scout hut was lightly harder, thank you that eagle eyed Scout. Venturing into Weston Super Mare just before darkness was always going to be an adventure. It started well with 'Butch' the dog lurching ravenously towards us upon stepping out of the car, Butch being the size of a dwarf rabbit and equally as cute, the owner.... lets move on...
Amazed at the number of Scouts who do not like chips we still decided dinner was to be chips on the seafront, well it worked out cheaper at least. The setting was stunning, and thanks to a local ice cream shop, dessert was equally so.
Photos from the Sunrise Camp:
This isn't the sunrise,I'm afraid, this is the rather pleasant sunset over a Century of Scouting(!)
Getting arty again...
At least the Leaders had some company in their room!!
8am, Wednesday 1st August 2007
Waiting to repeat the Promise on the Radio
We offered to put up the District Gazebo, the District wished we hadn't...
Hang on, I think I can do it by power of mind alone...
Breakfast, shortly after 8am
A rather nice breakfast on the seafront, bit of crumpet anyone!?
No, that blonde curly hair does nothing for you
Nice knecklace
Buy, sell, buy, sell...
I guessed warthog, it was a tiger, allegedly
Mouldy tiger
People kept walking on the number 2, we don't really know why, it was remodelled about 6 times, the rest stayed intact
Baden Powell...
Our sandcastles came in first place (except there weren't any winners, just 8 good ones...)
I guessed wrong and got told off for being rude...
