Adventurous Activity Day 2 - Blokarting and Coasteering.
The weather again interupted our programme, strong wind cancelled the sea kayaking and reinstated the blokarting, this ended up being a good result. After much faffing putting the blokarts together the wind in the morning was just enough to get some decent speed. The afternoon there was decent speed and lots of tipping over, still great videos and photos again!!
Coasteering involved jumping off a rhinos head (!?!) into the sea, swimming through a dark tunnel, swimming through a natural arch and lots and lots of rock scrambling. Unfortunately, the afternoon group had the lowest tide the instructor had ever seen, so were walking through most of the bits they should have swam through.
Thursday 30th August
St Brelade's Beach, big clear up and sleep out on the Verandah
As the weather was still sunny we opted for St Brelade's Bay, it had sand, sea, shops, everything you could wish for in a beach... It even had the local vicar who like everyone else on the island introduced himself by saying 'Ah, you are the ones staying at the Scout hut, I've heard all about you'. Once we'd looked around for Sargeant Nicholas Angel or Inspector Barnaby and concluded that Jersey people were just indeed extremely nice, (a rarity in Bristol) we settled into a day on the beach.
Dan decided a large Art Attack was needed and set about designing a rather fantatsic 62nd Bristol Scouts logo in the sand. This intrigued many passers by, some of whom thought we were celebrating someones 62nd birthday, (that's a lot of grand children...), much debate followed as to wish leader's birthday it was. Investing 3 Scouts also proved a hit with the local public, as did burying Dave while he was dozing (didn't he doze at the zoo, I hear you cry!? Yes, he did!).
We were soon to fly the other way on an Air SouthWest one
To look cool in sunglasses I believe you need to look as though you can still see and have not turned blind
Just needs sunglasses
You seem to have fingers sticking out your helmet
