Group History Meeting Details Help The Leaders Uniform Subs Directions |
62nd Bristol Scout Group is affiliated to Horfield Methodist Church, and located in the old North West Scout District of Bristol. We were formed in 1913 and celebrated our 90th anniversary in 2003. Around 2006/7 we merged with a neighbouring District to form the new Cabot District.
Our youngest members are 6 years old and stretch right up to 14 years of age. Our leaders are, of course, a little older! We are building strong links with the new District Explorer Units for those aged 14 - 18. The District Brunel Explorer Unit held their first meeting at the 62nd Hut in April 2004.
We have a busy Group Executive committe which host many fundraisers throughout the year. All our main events are very well supported by the local community as well as parents and friends of the Group.
To contact us goto the Enquiry page using the link on the left... it really works!

We Thrive on YOUR Help!
We cannot survive without the help of our parents and friends. There is always something to do, either big or small:
Keeping the hut tidy and clean
Gardening
DIY (from small jobs to large!)
Carpentry
Help on section evenings
Transport to and from events
Becoming a minibus driver
Donations of equipment or money
Fundraising: cooking, cleaning, erecting tents, delivering leaflets, other publicity, selling tickets
The list could go on and on and on....
If you are interested in anything (big or small) please contact a leader or the Group Chairman or Exec Member, they will make themselves known every so often!.
Thank you
The Leaders
Let us introuduce you to the main characters involved with 62nd Scout Group. The people below are in no particular order but they all work together to make everything tick over smoothly.
-
We are all volunteers, none of us get paid
-
Some have been around longer than others!
-
Some young leaders loved it so much they progressed from Scouts into leaders...

Leaders have to do this too...

... and no time limits are placed, an hour a week cutting grass is invaluable help. As is the massive amount of time spent by leaders and Group Exec memebers on fundraising and programmes.
Uniform
Each section has their own uniform. Most items can be bought from the Schoolwear Shop on Filton Rd. Ikon, in Henleaze also supplies uniform items.
Scout Section:
Scout uniform is Scout shirt, Neckerchief, plain 'Combat style' trousers all pressed neatly and looking smart!
Uniform is always worn unless stated.
Please note: jeans are not acceptable and mobile phones are not allowed on any Scouting event.
Please see the Documents Page for where to sew your badges.

Subs |
Subs are due at the beginning of each term. Spring, Summer & Autumn. Please consult your leaders for how much each sections subs are.
PROMPT payment is crucial to avoid embarrassment and help us run a successful Group.
Subs cover national Scout insurance, hut costs and some programme activities.
Thank you!
